In the US capital Washington, the Muslim American Society (MAS) and the Islamic Community of North America (ICNA) brought together Muslims. The annual congress of Muslims, with more than 24 thousand people, was a record level of participation this year.
The 44th ICNA-MAS congress was held on April 19-21 2019 in Washington, DC. Our General Coordinator Mr. Abdülhamit Erten participated in the program on behalf of the Union of NGOs of the Islamic World (UNIW).
At the congress, which started on Friday and lasted for 3 days, the agenda topics of Islamophobia, racism and xenophobia were highlighted. This year's main theme was “Improving Humanity: Lessons from Islam”. Muslims from 50 states met in the programme in Walter E. Washington Congress Center, USA.
ICNA Research Director Mohammed Tariq Rahman, who stated that they have realized a successful congress and fair program, noted that there was a record level of participation for the first time with more than 24 thousand people. He also aded “The Muslim community from every country, color and race living in the United States from all over the world met in the congress. Those who want to see a general picture of the İslam Ummah can look at the participants in the congress.”
In addition to the presentations made by more than 150 speakers and academicians for many fields such as Islamophobia, education, family and media, hundreds of booths established by commercial firms and non-governmental organizations in the congress area became the focus of attention of the guests.
The American Center for Religious Affairs (DCA), Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC), Turken Foundation and Zakat Foundation informed the participants about their work.
