Council Meeting of the International Muslim Women Union (IMWU)

A Council Meeting of the International Muslim Women Union (IMWU) had taken place at Kota Bharu, Kelantan, from 23rd to 27th of June 2019. Members of UNIW’s International Family Institute had participated in the program, where Mdm. Darou Aliya from Togo, Dr. Zaitoon Begum from Pakistan, Mdm. Nattya Konthothong from Thailand, and Dr. Rabiye Yilmaz from Turkey had made presentations on the activities and the objectives of their respective institutions.

Meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, H.E. Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail
In the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and her advisor, Dr. Rabiye Yilmaz had presented on International Family Institute and its activities. Associate Professor Dr. Nur Izura Udzir also briefed Deputy Prime Minister on the draft of the coming Family Conference program.

Meeting with the Deputy Rector of International Islamic University of Malaysia, Prof. Dr. Nor Faridah Abdul Manaf
During the meeting, Dr. Rabiye Yilmaz had shared information regarding the International Family Institute and its activities to the Vice Rector. The draft of Family Conference that will be organized with WADAH in Malaysia was also presented. At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Nor Faridah Hanim had invited UNIW delegation to the “International Muslim Youth Empowerment and Character Development” conference that will be held from 21-25 October 2019.

Meeting with the Turkey’s Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Dr. Merve Safa Kavakci
Turkey’s Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Dr. Merve Safa Kavakci had the opportunity to meet with UNIW delegation, along with Dr. Samia Raheel Qazi from Pakistan, who currently serves as Co-Chairman of IMWU and a member of High Advisory Board for International Family Institute. Dr. Samia expressed her gratitude for the appointment of Dr. Merve as the ambassador.

Dr. Rabiye Yilmaz presented to the Ambassador the activities carried out by International Family Institute, also on their meeting with H.E. Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Prof. Dr. Nor Faridah Abdul Manaf. She also shares on the planned Family Conference to be held in Malaysia in collaboration with WADAH. Dr. Merve said that she appreciate the works done by UNIW and the International Family Institute. Throughout the meeting, they also discussed on CEDAW dan other international family agreements.
