The 3rd International Islamic Union Congress was held in Istanbul
The 3rd International Islamic Union Congress, with the theme of “ASRIKA Joint Defense Industry Production”, was held at Istanbul Pullman Hotel Convention Center on 19-20 December 2019 in cooperation with the Union of Islamic World NGOs (IDSB), Justice Defenders Strategic Research Center Association (ASSAM) and Üsküdar University. carried out. Civil and military representatives from many countries of the world, expert researchers and civil society leaders participated in the congress.
The program, which started with the recitation of the Holy Quran, focused on the creation of Joint Military Standardization Centers for Islamic countries, the determination of cooperation and establishment issues between Islamic countries, the identification and development of defense industry products used and produced by Islamic countries.
Adnan Tanrıverdi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association for the Defenders of Justice Strategic Research Center (ASSAM) and Chief Advisor to the President, who made the opening speech, stated that one of the primary conditions for independence and being a sovereign power is that the weapons used by the countries belong to them, “National interests cannot be protected with someone else's weapon. With someone else's weapon, states cannot guarantee security, peace and prosperity in their countries. States with someone else's weapon cannot be considered sovereign in their countries. States cannot stand up to the countries in which they use their weapons.” said.
In the continuation of the congress, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati, President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, UNIW Deputy Secretary General Eyüp Akbal, Kütahya Dumlupınar University Rector Prof. Dr. Kazım Uysal, Mayor of Sancaktepe Şeyma Döğücü, Mayor of Bahçelievler Hakan Bahadır made opening speeches.
Expressing Turkey's success in the defense industry, Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Nureddin Nebati said, "When Turkey met the AK Party government in 2002, it had almost no power in the defense industry. The localization rate was around 20 percent. Today, in a short period of 17 years, we have become one of the world's leading defense industry countries. The rate of locality has reached almost 70 percent. and we have 4 companies among the top 100 companies in the world. These four companies and Türkiye do not only produce domestically. With the cooperation they have made, they are leading many countries by cooperating with Muslim countries.” he said.
Later, the President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Stating that Islamic countries are going through difficult times, Ali Erbaş said, “Because today, our world, which is in a social, cultural, political and economic crisis, is going through one of the most difficult periods in its history. All ideologies and policies that emerged with the claim of bringing prosperity, peace, peace and justice to humanity have lost their credibility. The efforts of global pilots to become social engineers have led the world to a total disaster. In the last two centuries, the most affected by the colonial policies, especially the Islamic Communities, Muslims have been affected. The only possibility that can solve the crises of humanity, social, cultural, spiritual and political crises is the universal truths that give life to Islam. For this, it is very important for Muslims to solve the problems of the geographies in which they live in cooperation in a realistic and convincing manner.
In his speech, Eyüp Akbal, Deputy Secretary General of UNIW, said, “I am very happy to be with you at the Asrika Joint Defense Industry Production Congress. We came here from different countries, but we are actually members of one ummah. The Islamic world needs unity and solidarity today more than ever before in its history. Even if the three elifs are separate, they have three values. But if the same three elifs put them side by side, shoulder to shoulder on a line, it will be one hundred and eleven in strength and value.” said.
The congress ended with the evaluation meeting held at the end of the second day.
